DOG'S HEADWORLD

GENERAL GALLERY

on 2020 (?) I went camping with my dad and his wife. We saw this beautiful frog, and like, its probably a very common species in ontario, but ive never actually seen a frog before. Ive seen pleanty a tadpole and frog eggs in my life, but actual frogs and toads were not common to see where I grew up. something about the endless green and the sound of water and the sound of frogs and bugs gave me this feeling of euphoria of being alive that ive been chasing ever since. frog studies on copic markers and watercolours+coloured pencil and acrylics. Ill talk about the dandelions on the next post.

I have a lot of feelings about dandelions. They are so resilient, they grow everywhere despite the harshness of concrete, and they are such a lively flower; like a little sun appearing in between the cracks in the pavement. you can eat them, you can make wine from them, you can even make tea! and even so people only ever seem to want to get rid of them. a "weed". when youre a child you make wishes with them, when youre grown up you try to eliminate them. theres something deep there. these were all media experiments and expressions of a special kind of hopeless joy; despite how horrible life can be, there are little things that are nice. copic markers, watercolour, , coloured pencil, gouache, posca pens, acrylics.

Painting I made in my wild year in Chile during 2018. I was feeling nostalgic for Toronto; This is a completely from memory rendition of the Humber River Bridge at Humber Bay Park in Toronto. Inspired on a memory I have of biking through this bridge while listening to GYBE's lift your skinny fists, specifically the bit at an hour and ten minutes. One of those moments in your life that feel magical. One of my favourite paintings. I was very high when I painted this. acrylic on dollarama sketchbook paper.
